Katya Lipartiya arrived in Tartu, Estonia as a refugee from Luhansk and quickly got involved with the Ukrainian cultural community, Ukraina Maja (Ukrainian House in Estonian). She became an organizer for them and has seen the value of art in bringing people together to discuss shared experiences and commonalities. She herself also creates more art, engaging in vyshyvanka embroidery and sylyanka bead jewelry. As she is from eastern Ukraine, she is passionate about rediscovering what is really Ukrainian verses what cultural aspects from her past were influenced by Russia.
