Viktoria Berezina is an artist from Kherson, Ukraine who uses both traditional Ukrainian Petrykivka painting and her own contemporary techniques like collage and graphic design to express herself. She first came to Estonia in January of 2022 to learn about Estonia’s art scene. However, upon returning to Ukraine, her city quickly fell under occupation. While living under occupation, she used art to process what was occurring in her city, and she also began writing letters to an Estonian gallery owner, whom she met on her previous trip. These letters paved the way for her to return to Estonia as a refugee and publish a book about her time under occupation. She is now a well-established and known Ukrainian artist working in Tartu, Estonia.
